Kenzo Takada was part of the very first wave of Japanese stylists to try their luck in the fashion capital of the world. In 1970, he organised his first fashion show in the Galerie Vivienne and opened his own women’s fashion boutique. His innovative style, featuring unexpected combinations of Parisian fashion with the colours and poetry of his native Japan, opened many doors for him and led him to success. Since 1971, his international recognition has been undeniable. In the 1980s, he expanded into men’s fashion, the perfume industry, and various collaborations, always maintaining his sense of audacity and freedom. These creations showcase his signature style through graphic and cultural references: mixing origins, mastering colours, and creating delicate patterns.
