Roche Bobois challenged the renowned Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos to reinterpret six of their iconic models. Joana Vasconcelos recreated these pieces by preserving their original essence while inscribing her identity. Her unparalleled creativity highlights Portuguese artisanal traditions and know-how.
The six revisited pieces - two Ava chairs, the Lady B and Nuage armchairs, the Sismic and Cute Cut cocktail tables and a composition of the iconic Mah Jong - were exhibited on May 16 in the artist's studio in Lisbon as part of the ARCO contemporary art fair. This exhibition is now travelling, the six works can be discovered at the Roche Bobois avenue de la Grande Armée showroom in Paris until October 20th.
The works will then cross the Atlantic in December to be exhibited at the Perez museum in Miami as part of the international contemporary art fair, ART BASEL from December 5 to 8. The pieces will later be auctioned. All proceeds will be donated to the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation. This charity aims to promote and develop art through educational projects.
