The shape of the Zungueira suspensions is inspired by the silouhettes of the street vendors in Angola, known as 'Zungueiras', carrying their wares on their heads. Throughout the day, these women hold their heads high, guided by the sun's rays, without ever dropping their baskets. They were imagined by Valdina Manuel, a young Angolan designer and winner of the 8th Roche Bobois Design Award held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on the theme 'New sources of light, new resources for lighting'. ...
