Always on the lookout for young talent, the Roche Bobois Design Award tours the best design schools in the world to explore different cultures and offer winners the opportunity to collaborate with the brand.
Inspired by the excellence of contemporary Japanese design and its ability to combine cutting-edge creativity with traditional techniques, the sixth edition was held in Japan in 2020, in partnership with Musashino Art University (MAU) in Tokyo. The theme was the fusion between traditional Japanese expertise and new technologies or innovative materials.
The spectacular marble console designed by Soichiro Tanaka showcases a delicate treatment of this material usually crafted in large proportions, with a striking contrast between exterior and interior – evoking a slice of exotic fruit. ...
